The LAPD’s use of force against peaceful demonstrators and journalists during the May Day rallies can only be described as sickening. How literally was this an attack on freedom of speech and assembly?
The police allege, naturally, that the demonstrators were “unruly.” Of course. And, even if that were the case, that would totally justify firing rubber bullets at children.
Also, since I don’t watch much television, I didn’t find out about this until a few days afterward, and only because a friend told me. It’s not really prominent in any of the major news sources I skim, like NYT.
But our War on Immigration has had some prominent victories, as with the recent capsizing of a boat carrying Haitian would-be immigrants. Thank God at least 20 of them were killed in the process! That’ll show ‘em. Try to live and work in my country, will ya?
