Kittens Need More than Whips

I’m sorry for the flip title in regards to what follows:
Slain student called 911, but no one came in time (ht Lewrockwell.com blog)
Brittany Zimmerman, a 21-year-old college student who wanted to be a doctor, called 911 as she was being attacked by a stranger, police say.
Brittany Zimmerman’s screams and struggle for her life were captured by a 911 tape.
But the police did not come for 48 minutes. By that time, Zimmerman was dead. Her fiance found her body.
Although the dispatcher claimed later to have heard nothing, the 911 tape captured screams, gasps and what sounds like a struggle, according to the court documents.
Why aren’t feminists agitating to universally arm women? Even if the 911 dispatchers hadn’t been criminally irresponsible, it is far easier to prevent a crime than to show up in time to interrupt one in progress. It sounds like Zimmerman fell for one of the lies of our age, the one about the government being here to protect us.
It seems like it’s far more politically fashionable to argue about women’s representation in, say, S&M scenarios than their ability to defend themselves. I mean no disrespect for the late Bettie Page: I’m just saying that fringe aspects of popular culture seem to get more airtime than the business of actually empowering women (and men.)
